Make the most of the summer term with PSTT’s recorded science lessons.
Our team of Primary Science Mentors has created a series of nature-inspired science investigations for each age phase (3-5, 5-7, 7-9 and 9-11). Each recorded lesson introduces a curriculum-linked investigation that children can carry out indoors or outdoors – whether in their school grounds, a local green space or the classroom – supported by their class teacher.
Designed to be flexible, the lessons can be accessed throughout the summer term and completed at a time that suits your class and the weather. Each investigation introduces relevant scientific concepts and vocabulary while modelling working scientifically skills and providing opportunities for children to discuss their ideas.
The investigations are accessible whether or not children have previously studied the topic and have been designed so that schools with limited or no access to green spaces can still take part.
What to expect
Each recorded lesson begins with a short teacher guidance section containing key reminders before introducing the investigation for children to carry out.
During the lesson, children will:
- explore relevant scientific concepts and vocabulary
- see working scientifically skills modelled*
- have opportunities to pause for whole-class or paired discussion
- carry out a practical, nature-inspired science investigation with support from their class teacher
For schools in Wales, the lessons model skills for ‘Being curious and searching for answers’.
